The Diocese has consecrated a new Bishop, Father Peter Fox (24 February 2002).

The Anglican Church of Papua New Guinea has a new Bishop, He is Peter Fox, an Englishman who served as a missionary in PNG from 1979 - 1985
The consecration of Fr Peter Fox as Bishop and his enthronement as the Anglican Bishop of Port Moresby took place on this morning at the historical St John's Cathedral on the hill with the ACPNG primate, Archbishop James Ayong presiding.
Bishop Peter Fox was elected Bishop of the Diocese of Port Moresby by Anglican Church of PNG (ACPNG) last September. He replaces Anglican Bishop of Port Moresby who returned to Australia in mid 2001.
Bishop Peter Fox's consecration and enthronement comes at the special season of Lent which will lead to Easter, the most important event in the Church calendar. Next week will be 25 years since the constitution for ACPNG was established for it to become independent. Prior to becoming independent the Anglican Church in PNG was a missionary Dioceses of the Anglican Church of Australia.
Since the departure of Anglican Bishop of Port Moresby, the Anglican Diocese of Port Moresby has been administered by the Vicar-General, Fr Danny Guka.
